Lisa Ovies is a Mexican/Canadian director and actress currently residing in Vancouver, Canada. She has been praised for her ability to seamlessly blend her passion of horror and her skills as a comedian. Her directorial debut ‘Puppet Killer'(2020) garnered an impressive 79 nominations and 30 awards and was quickly labelled as “destined for cult status”.
Although originally trained in acting, she launched the film company I No.Films in 2011 and went on to write and produce several films, including the multi award winning documentary ‘Taking My Parents to Burning Man’. Additionally, she received a full scholarship to Women in the Directors Chair to train in the art department, and a second scholarship to Chicago Second City where she spent the better part of the summer of 2014 honing her comedy and writing skills. She is also the founder of Rogue Studios, a studio in Vancouver that is home to 2 production companies, an improv school and an acting school.
